H&M ‘LAST CHANCE TO BUY’ DEPARTMENT
Task
The mission set to us was to create an eye catching new department to house the funky brands Last Chance To Buy lines right in the heart of London’s Oxford Street at their flagship store.
The aim being to design an area that would fit into the multifaceted 1st floor and merge with the existing interior while at the same time standing out and making its presence known.
From receiving the brief we researched rival last chance to buy areas in neighbouring towns – discovering many devote merely a small square meterage to the promotion of LCTB making our allocated whole department suddenly become even more of a gauntlet to create one of the very best.
We proposed 3 concepts in our pitch; Candy, Shimmer and Industrial; showing colour ways, materials, props – right down to some unique H&M premium branded hangers.
And the winner was……Shimmer! (Yay, that was our favourite too…) From there we developed the concept, with feedback from the H&M team and began production of our bespoke props and visual merchandising dressings.
The Shimmer concept is a mix of materials in a copper colour way in varying shades. We utilised kinetic shimmer disc tiles in Pantone matched copper with sprayed baseboards to appear seamless within the existing department backwall. We designed VM treatments to adorn each wall bay where the LCTB garments would be dressed to really make them pop out – these were in the form of copper vinyl graphic slices applied to the wall units, a theme which we followed through to the huge mirror gracing the area – where huge metal powder coated letters can be found to denote Last Chance To Buy.
We were asked to also design and produce two new LCTB gondola fixtures to house floor garments. We created slimline units graced with sunk in mirror gold dibond pads to further enhance the glitz and glamour of our shimmer discs.
To really set the theme off we designed and commissioned hangers to be produced in an electroplated copper chrome finish branded with the printed LCTB new logo we’d created.
Installed on a rainy Sunday evening and unveiled on Monday, we hugely enjoyed working with H&M to realise the potential of creating an uber stylish and inviting LAST CHANCE TO BUY area to entice their clientele.
