Being based in central London, sometimes clients are pleasantly surprised that we can design, print and ship so quickly. Our friends at TAG Heuer needed some printed plates for their in-store time piece display in order to call out a special exclusive watch.
TAG Heuer sent us their artwork and small blank metal plates for us to print directly onto. This is very detailed work as the plates are just over 40 x 30 mm, so it called for a very specific style of printing.
Using UV Printing we swiftly produced a sample for sign off and off we went. We had to individually set up each plate to ensure the text was straight and centred and 90 plates later we were ready to ship.
A very smart end result which you’ll be seeing in a TAG Heuer concession in Goldsmith’s boutiques soon to highlight the new exclusive to Goldsmiths Aquaracer.
You might be thinking or wondering what UV printing is, well, our sister company The Graphical Tree are specialists in such techniques so we asked for a quick outline.
UV Printing is a form of digital printing that uses ultra-violet lights to dry (or cure) ink as it is printed. As the printer distributes ink onto the substrate (in this case the plate), UV light follows behind drying the ink almost instantly. This means the dots of wet ink can’t spread out which results in much finer detail. Sounds pretty simple but it’s very clever indeed!
The UV flatbed printer can print directly onto most materials up to nearly 2 inches thick.
